Minecraft Bans NFTs and Blockchain Integration from the Game

After receiving mixed reactions to the Minecraft 1.19 update, Minecraft developer Mojang is back with an unprecedented move. Mojang has officially announced that they do not support NFT and similar blockchain products based on their game. The move reflects their upcoming manual and has divided the community. NFT "Not Aligned" with Minecraft Values

The Minecraft developers stated that "NFT doesn't include our entire community and creates a yes and no scenario" in their official blog post. According to them, NFT and other blockchain products work by creating scarcity and exclusion. Additionally, they point out that using Minecraft for the NFT drives profits, which, according to the developers, are "incompatible with players' long-term pleasure and success."

Once the new Minecraft Usage Guidelines go into effect, you will no longer be allowed to buy, sell, or trade NFTs using Minecraft items. These include worlds, skins, custom items, mods, and other items specific to Minecraft. You can no longer create or purchase NFTs with Minecraft or integrate  blockchain technology into game apps. 

How does Minecraft's NFT ban affect you?

Unless you're an NFT artist who already uses the game for their work, Minecraft's ban on the NFT won't affect you. For this reason, the community has had mixed comments for this surprising move. Some want to use NFT to make a living through Minecraft. Meanwhile, others want to move the Minecraft world  away from blockchains. So, if you're considering creating a Minecraft skin to sell as an NFT, you should reconsider your plan.

But this move doesn't just affect Minecrat's player base. The official statement also notes that "several companies have recently launched NFT implementations that link to Minecraft world files and skin packs", which directly implies that the companies are profiting from the work. by Minecraft developers.

In the final notes of their statement, the developers of Minecraft said they will pay special attention to developments in blockchain technology. So we could see the return of Minecraft NFT in the future. But for now, blockchain products have no place in the Minecraft world.
