Netflix Offers External Subscription Option for iOS Users

Netflix has begun rolling out a new subscription option for those who subscribe to the video streaming app on their iOS devices. This will allow them to pay for the subscription without App Store intervention.

During registration, the user can choose a new option, which says: "You are about to exit the application and visit an external website". This will help Netflix avoid paying a 30% commission to Apple, which has been under intense scrutiny for some time. However, you will still have to pay a fee.

As a reminder, the new App Store update comes after reaching an agreement with the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC)  last year. For those who don't know, reader apps are apps that provide digital content like audio, video, newspapers, books, etc.

Note, however, that this option is currently reserved for new subscriptions. Netflix still doesn't allow in-app payment options for current subscribers and excluded the feature in 2018. It remains to be seen whether the option will reach old subscribers anytime soon. are not. Meanwhile, new subscribers can still breathe a sigh of relief, as does Netflix, which can now do away with Apple's high fees.
