Whatsapp allows users to share chats from iPhone to Android devices and vice-versa

WhatsApp recently rolled out a new feature that allows users to transfer their entire chat history from Android to iOS and vice versa. 

Making an announcement on Twitter, WhatsApp said: “A new way to keep the conversations that matter most. Today, you will have the option to transfer your entire chat history from Android to iOS and vice versa. Now you have the freedom to move to and from your favorite devices. "

If users switch from Android phones to iPhones, they can transfer their account information, profile picture, individual chats, groups, and chat history,  However, user cannot transfer their call history, or display name.

To go further, users must have the following: 

1) Android Lollipop, SDK 21 or later or Android 5 or higher installed on Android device, iOS 15.5 or later installed on iPhone, switch to iOS app installed on Android Phone 

2) WhatsApp iOS version 2.22.10.70 or higher on a new device

3) WhatsApp Android version 2.22.7.74 or higher version on an old device

4) Use same your old phone number for a new device

5) iPhone must do a new factory reset or factory reset  to pair with the Migrate to iOS app and migrate data from an Android phone

6) Both two devices must be connected to a power source 

7) Both  devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network or the Android device must be connected to the iPhone hotspot 

Users must follow the steps below to switch from Android to iPhone: 

1) Open the Switch to iOS app on your Android phone and follow the onscreen prompts. 

2) A code will be displayed on the iPhone. When prompted, enter the code on your Android phone. 

3) Tap Continue and follow the on-screen prompts. 

4) Select WhatsApp on the data transfer screen. 

5) Press "start" on your Android phone and wait for WhatsApp to prepare the data for export. The user will log out of their Android phone once the data has been prepared. 

 6) Tap "Next" to return to the Switch to iOS app. 

 7) Click "Continue" to transfer data from Android phone to iPhone and wait for Transfer to iOS to confirm the transfer is complete. 

 8) Install the latest version of WhatsApp from the App Store. 

 9) Open WhatsApp and sign in with the same phone number you used on your old device. 

 10) Press "start" when prompted and allow the process to complete. 

 11) Complete the new device activation process and users will be able to find their chats there.
