Google brings in major changes to Wear OS

Offline browsing, redesigned Play Store coming later this year.

Google, at a recent Unpacked event, announced new features for Wear OS. Key features include an improved Play Store and offline Google Map support, which will be available to users later this year.

Wear OS comes with the Galaxy Watch 5 - Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro series with an updated One UI Watch interface.

Google also announced that the Google Maps app for Wear OS will soon have support for offline navigation.

In the current version, Google Maps on the watch requires a phone connection for navigation, but with the upcoming change, one can use the service even while leaving the phone at home.

Regarding the updates, Samsung said, "Music and audio lovers will appreciate the updates that include new apps like SoundCloud and Deezer."

In addition to Google Maps, Google is also improving the Play Store on Wear OS to provide an experience as simple as a smartphone app. The Play Store on Wear OS is said to feature new app collections, showing trending apps and "personalized recommendations".
