Say Hello Again To Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3, and new Nokia 5310 launched: Specs, price
Updated: Mar 21
Nokia is joining the long list of smartphone makers offering 5G smartphones. Nokia 8.3 5G is the first 5G smartphone from the Finnish company. HMD Global, the company with license to Nokia brand, announced the device via an online event today. With Nokia 8.3 5G, the company is preparing to challenge the likes of Xiaomi, Realme and others in the mid-range 5G smartphones. Ahead of the launch today, the company detailed its collaboration with the James Bond movie franchisee.
While the release of 25th Bond Movie, No Time To Die, has been pushed back to November 12, 2020, the smartphone is getting unveiled today. Alongside the Nokia 8.3, HMD Global also launched the Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3. The first thing to note here is that Nokia 8.3 5G is built using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G mobile platform. This new platform brings integrated 5G solution to a price point that is not €1,000.
The Nokia 8.3 5G includes PureView Quad camera with Zeiss optics. The camera specifications are 64MP + 12MP + 2MP (macro) + 2MP depth. Nokia has confirmed that all the cameras are certified with Zeiss optics. The phone comes with several camera features such as action camera mode for smooth videos and also ZEISS cinematic effects. For selfies the Nokia 8.3 5G includes a 24MP camera with Zeiss optics.
Nokia 8.3 5G features a huge 6.81-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD display with HMD Global’s PureDisplay technology, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 2400 x 1080p resolution. It is the standard 60Hz panel as opposed to the high refresh rate panels we’re seeing on many phones these days. There’s also a punch-hole cutout on the top-left if you hadn’t noticed already.
The Nokia 8.3 5G runs Android 10 out of the box and will be available this summer at a global retail price of €599 (around Rs 47,794). It comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and 4,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. It is not clear whether Nokia 8.3 5G will come to India but it sure seems like an interesting product. With Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme jumping into the mid-range 5G market, Nokia is not shying away from the fight. However, it needs to be seen whether it succeeds convincing customers that its premium value is worth their wallet.
The second phone to launch today is the Nokia 5.3, which is the successor to Nokia 5.1 Plus that was launched way back in mid-2018.
HMD Global also announced the Nokia 5.3 which succeeds the Nokia 5.2 launched last year. The smartphone also comes with a quad rear camera setup including 13MP f/1.8 + 2MP depth sensor + 5MP ultra-wide + 2MP macro. On the front it includes 8MP f/2.0. The Nokia 5.3 includes a 6.55-inch HD+ display with aspect ratio of 20:9, Snapdragon 665 processor, up to 6GB RAM, up to 64GB storage, microSD card slot Support for up to 512 GB, 4000 mAh battery (offers up to 2 days
battery life) and Android 10 support. The smartphone comes in three colours: Cyan, Sand, and Charcoal.
The company also announced Nokia 1.3 during the launch event.
The Nokia 1.3 comes in three colours: Cyan, Charcoal, and Sand. It includes a 5.71-inch screen, 3000 mah battery, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, microSD card slot Support for up to 400 GB, single 8MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, Qualcomm QM215, 4x A53, Android 10 Go Edition, and micro USB support.
This device is powered by the Snapdragon 215 chipset, coupled with 1GB RAM and 16GB storage (expandable up to 400GB via microSD card slot). It runs Android 10 (Go Edition) out-of-the-box and is the first device to come with this new lighter version of Android.
Nokia 1.3 features a single camera both on the front and back and they are 5MP and 8MP respectively. You have an LED flash on the rear but the highlight here is the Camera Go app, which tells you the number of shots left and lets you capture portrait shots.
